Last Post- Parting Words and Fun Farm Retreats

Hello Everyone, and thank you for reading my blog. This will be my last post, as I got a full time teaching job and have moved to Northern Canada to teach. Although I am onto my new adventure, I really hope to be at the farm for some time in the future and it was an amazing experience. It solidified my future goal of wanting to grow as much of my own food as possible and I learned so many things about food, animals and running a farm.

I will miss Bob and Ann and my fellow farm apprentice, Liz
I wanted to mention that this experience also taught me just how hard farmers work. Farmers work hard. They work physically hard and work long hours. They don't get weekends off (animals still need to eat when it's the weekend) and they work when it's cold, wet, rainy and when they're sick. In the past, farmers would sometimes take part of Sunday off to go to church. Not many modern day farmers go to church, so most still work on Sundays.

Farms who grow food organically and on a small scale need to be supported. As consumers, we have great power as to who we want to give our money to. I will go to even greater efforts to support local farms and farmers after this experience. It is something worth giving some thought to.

Bob and Ann also might start 'Fun Farm Retreats' at some point in the future and I want to say that I reccommend this experience to people who are interested in horses, farm, growing food and staying in a luxurious cabin while experiencing all this.

The barn during feeding time is a neat place to be.

So, give some thought to where your food comes from and thank farmers by supporting ones near you. Thanks for reading!
